Letter To Birth Parents

Dear friends,

It is our greatest desire to become parents.  The purpose of this blog is for birth parents, hoping to find a couple with which to place their child, to get to know us.  If that is you, we are grateful to you for considering us.  May the Lord comfort and guide you in this very important decision.  Through our own trials, we have come to know that our lives are truly in the Lord’s hands.  You, as birth parents, have the opportunity to make decisions in your child’s life, much the same as the Lord guiding ours.  We pray that the Lord will guide you and comfort you during this difficult time.

About us:

We were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for Time and Eternity eight years ago.  Even before we were married, we discussed the fact that we both wanted a large family, and that we both wanted to adopt at least one child.  Little did we know then that all of our children will probably come through adoption.  There are five children in both of our families, but Chris is the oldest and Autumn is the youngest.  Our families are very important to us and always shower us with love and support.  We live on Chris’ family’s farm of about 1600 acres, and we have 400 acres of our own down the road.  Most people would say that we live in the boonies, but we love it!  Our small community is wonderful.  We both love animals.  We have cattle that we raise on the ranch as well as our pets, which include three horses, two dogs, and two cats.  Autumn also hopes to have a goat one day.  We married early in our college careers and this gave us a unique opportunity to go to school and learn together.  We enjoyed several classes together, as we both started out in the same field.  We graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in December of 2008, Chris in Outdoor Education and Autumn in Elementary Education.

About Chris (written by Autumn):

Chris (Christopher to his family) is the most loving, caring, and tender-hearted man I know!  He is the crier in the family.  He absolutely loves kids with all his heart.  He is wonderful with our nieces and nephews, and is easily the ‘favorite’ uncle.  Truthfully, it makes me a little jealous when I call or see my nieces and the first thing they ask me is, “Where is Chris?”  Chris is currently serving in the ward as the Ward Records Clerk.  He is enjoying learning something new, but will quickly tell anyone that the Nursery (his last calling) is the best calling in a ward.  There have been countless people tell me what an awesome dad he will be someday.  Speaking of church, Chris is also a proud priesthood holder, who honors his priesthood and guides our home through the Lord’s inspirations.

Chris treats me like a princess.  In fact, that’s one of his nicknames for me!  Through my reproductive health issues, Chris has always taken great care of me.  He’s learned to be a great housewife.  No matter how long I was laid up, though, he was always there, asking what else I needed, or how he could make me more comfortable.

Chris has always been a hard worker.  Whether it is at his job as a Soil and Water Resource Conservationist, on the ranch, or helping a neighbor, the work always gets done well and without complaint.  His work ethic also helped him to be a successful missionary in the Washington, D.C. North Mission.  I know hard work is something he will instill in our children.

Chris also likes to have fun.  He can always make me laugh.  He is a big jokester, and I think he and his sister enjoy seeing who can give each other the hardest time.   Other ways he likes to have fun include playing games with the extended family (we are very close to both sides, but especially his, as they live next door), horseback riding (whether for leisure or work, if he is on a horse he is having fun), sports, ATV riding, hunting, playing with his dogs, singing, and spoiling me.

The last thing I must tell you about Chris is that EVERYONE loves him.  He is friends with everyone and can strike up a conversation with anyone.  I couldn’t ask for a better eternal companion, and I can’t wait for the day when we get to become parents together.

About Autumn (written by Chris):

When I was looking for an eternal companion I wanted somebody who would like doing the same things I like to do.  Autumn and I love being outside and we love being together.  Some hobbies include:  riding horses, camping, taking pictures of nature, and doing the many amazing things that a ranch allows you to do.  Also, I wanted to marry someone who wanted a family and loved children.  I knew that Autumn was the right person when I saw her interact with her nieces and nephew.

Autumn is the kindest person I know and she would go out of her way to help anyone in need.  Her love for children is evident as she desired to become a teacher so she could help as many children learn and grow as she could.  Autumn was a Kindergarten teacher, and now is a 1st grade teacher, and she loves everyday of it, especially the funny little things that her students do and say.

Autumn is currently serving in the Primary as a teacher, where once again she gets to spend time teaching children about the principles of the gospel.  She loves to see them light up as they learn about Jesus and his teachings.

I know Autumn will make a great mother because of her love for children, her desire to teach them, and her ability to help them have fun and enjoy life.  Autumn is kind, gentle, and has a soft, tender heart.  Autumn will give unconditional love to any child who comes into our home.  She is going to be a great mom!

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little.  We look forward to getting to know you better.  We are very open toward the roles the birth parents will lead in the lives of our children.  If there was anything in this letter that spoke to your heart, we encourage you to view our weekly blog to get to know more about our day-to-day lives.  Once again, thank you for giving us this chance.  We will always be grateful to our future birth parents for giving us an opportunity to have an eternal family.

Respectfully,
Chris and Autumn
